The Nice List

Hello, everyone!  This is my second post today!  I want to join the December challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs before it closes!  I received this Wish List Santa Claus image from Gerda Steiner for free since I joined last month's challenge!

For those of you following the adventures of my elf Eli, here he is taking it easy, hanging out in a small potted tree at Walmart! He looks so cute there and he fits in nicely!  He really liked the other elf at the top of the tree and thought he would spend some time getting to know him. I'm linking this to the 4th Annual Elf Antics Linky at DL.ART!

Meowy Christmas and Holiday Fishes

Hello, everyone!  I'm back!  Before I share my computer woes, I would like to welcome two new followers - Stephanie Sanders and Jean Bullock - thank you for joining me!  If you would like to leave a link to your blog in the comments, I will hop over and follow you too!

My computer has been fixed and I'm back online!  It was the hard drive - again!  You may remember my hard drive crashed last January and - guess what - it crashed again, less than one year later.  Major inconvenience, but at least it was under warranty so I only had to pay for the dying power supply fan and installation.  I hope this new hard drive lasts longer than the old one. I think I have everything reinstalled and working properly. Thankfully, I back up my files every night so all of my photos and digis are safe! It feels so good to have my computer back!  Yay!  I have a lot of catching up to do!  It will take me a few days to get around to visit everyone but I'll eventually get there!

I have two kitty cards to share today!

Card #1

My first card features the December newsletter freebie from The East Wind called Meowy Christmas 2 (thank you, Unky!).  I coloured it with Prismacolor pencils and added Clear Wink of Stella on the bow and bells, and Glossy Accents on the candy cane, bells, and eyes.

Other products used:

  • Clear stamp: Sentiment (Newton's Nook Newton's Holiday Mischief)
  • Dies: Gina Marie Designs Pine Needles, Impression Obsession Holly Leaf Cluster
  • Embossing folder:  Brick (unknown)
  • Ribbon:  DL.ART Christmas Red
  • Patterned paper:  Lawn Fawn (leftover scraps)
  • Other: Xmas Red Stickles added on holly berries, star from my Dollarama stash

Card #2

My second card features a freebie by Fiki at Bad Kitty's Craftroom (thank you, Fiki!). I coloured it with Prismacolor pencils and sponged Peeled Paint Distress Ink around the image. This is a shaker card and I adhered lots of sequins around the image to look like baubles.

Other products used:
  • Dies: Nellie's Multiframe Circles, Simon Says Stamp Sending
  • Patterned paper:  Forever in Time
  • Ribbon:  DL.ART Christmas Red
  • Other: Dymo label maker, red glitter washi tape and green glitter cardstock from my Dollarama stash, cat charm

For those of you following the adventures of my elf Eli, he's back from his road trip and has lots of photos to share! The purpose of his trip was to see how many other elves he could meet! He found lots of new friends on his travels! Here is Eli pictured with one of his new elf friends, so I'm linking this to the 4th Annual Elf Antics Linky at DL.ART!

    Computer Troubles

Hello, everyone!  Just popping in to let you know I am having computer problems. At first the problem was something simple (power supply fan) and I've been waiting for a quote.  However, now there is an unrelated problem - the computer won't start up at all!  I've taken it to the shop (again!), and I hope to find out more tomorrow! We are old-school at our house - no Smartphone or the like, so I'm at the public library now to post this and to check my email. Hopefully I will be back online soon. I've been wanting to spend less time on the computer, but this is not what I had in mind!

On a happier note, when I took the computer in for diagnosis (the first time), Eli found some old friends! I'm linking this to the 4th Annual Elf Antics Linky at DL.ART! Depending on what happens with my computer, this may be the last time you see Eli for a while...

Deer in Metallics (VOSP Day 3)

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to Day 3 of the Visions of Sugar Plums blog hop! This is the final day of the hop!  If you missed the first two days, here are links for Day 1 and Day 2. You won't want to miss any of the Christmas and winter inspiration!  And there are prizes too!  Keep reading to find out how you could win!

    My Project
Today I'm sharing three versions of the same clean and simple (CAS) card: one in silver, one in gold, and one copper. Do you have a favourite?

I die-cut the Leaping Deer in all three metallics and then cut three more out of white craft foam. I adhered the craft foam to the back of each deer to give them some dimension. I stamped the various snowflake stamps with Versamark on the diagonal and heat-embossed them on a 4" x 5.25" panel in each of the three metallics. I adhered each die-cut deer along with a variety of coordinating sequins. The embossed panels were then backed with white craft foam and mounted on white A2 card bases.

Here are photos of each individual card:

    Silver

    Gold

    Copper

I followed the same design to finish off the inside of each card, in the coordinating metallic. Here is a photo of the silver one. The sentiment reads, "Dashing through the snow to send you holiday wishes," which I thought went perfectly with the leaping deer.

    Products used:
    • Die: Memory Box Leaping Deer
    • Stamps: Snowflakes (Your Next Stamp Winter Wishes, Newton's Nook Frozen Friends, Newton's Nook Newton's Curious Christmas), sentiment (unmarked clear stamp set from China)
    • Ink: Versamark
    • Embossing powder:  The Artful Stamper (silver, gold, copper)
    • Metallic cardstock:  3 Birds Design (silver, gold), Artist's Vision (copper)
    • Other: Sequins from my stash

Guest Designer at Connie Can Crop

(If you are looking for my Visions of Sugar Plums Blog Hop projects,
here are links to Day 1 and Day 2.)

Hello, everyone!  I am excited to announce that I'm a Guest Designer at Connie Can Crop this month! Thank you to Connie for inviting me!

The theme for December is "Baby, It's Cold Outside," so the challenge is to create a project using a snowman, snow, or snowflakes. I hope you'll head over and join the fun - please tell Connie that Kitty sent you!

Here's a direct link to the December challenge, where you will find the link-up, challenge rules, and prize to be won!

For my project, I made a set of four winter cards! Scene cards are my favourite type of card to make! I included a snowman, snow, and snowflakes on each one! A sweet friend recently gave me these cute chipboard snowmen, as well as the patterned paper, and I couldn't wait to use them!  I knew they would be perfect for my winter scenes!

Each card is different but I followed the same basic design. I die-cut a snowy landscape and added Stickles for some sparkle. I used the snowy patterned paper for the sky, added a chipboard snowman, and stamped a sentiment in a coordinating ink. The little scenes are mounted on cardstock and then adhered to a snowflake-embossed card front. I finished off each card with a different embellishment: snowflake sequins, regular sequins, pearl snowflakes, and a snowman charm with ribbon.

These same products were used on all cards:
    • Embossing folder: Die'sire Embossalicious Let it Snow
    • Patterned paper and chipboard snowmen: Gift from my friend Debi B (thank you!)
    • Other: Diamond Stickles

Here is a close-up of each card, along with the additional products used.

    Card 1 - Skating Snowman

    • Stamp: Sentiment (Your Next Stamp Waddles Winter Happiness)
    • Ink: Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy
    • Die: Pierced Landscape (unmarked die from China)
    • Other: Snowflake sequins from my Dollarama stash

    Card 2 - Sledding Snowman

    • Stamp: Sentiment (Your Next Stamp Waddles Winter Happiness)
    • Ink: Stampin' Up Night of Navy
    • Die: Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders
    • Other: Pearl snowflakes from my stash

    Card 3 - Broom Snowman

    • Stamp: Sentiment (Unity Stamps May Your Days be Merry and Bright)
    • Ink: StazOn Forest Green
    • Die: Poppystamps Stitched Landscapes
    • Other: Ribbon (Darice), snowflake charm from my stash

    Card 4 - Snowman Saucer

    • Stamp: Sentiment (unmarked clear stamp set from China)
    • Ink: Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy
    • Die: Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders
    • Other: Sequins from my stash

Thank you to Connie Can Crop for having me as your Guest Designer!  I had fun!
